Coconut oil is often hailed as the new must-have pantry item. Filled with healthy fats, coconut oil can be used for cooking to replace less healthy fats, but it can also be used for everything from making homemade toothpaste to using it as makeup remover. Here are some of the more uncommon uses for this miracle product.

20. Swap it for Unhealthier Oils in the KitchenFrying with Coconut Oil

Everyone likes fried food, but many avoid it because it’s so bad for you. Part of the reason it’s so unhealthy has to do with the oil the food is cooked in. Instead of vegetable or corn oil, consider using coconut oil. It will give your food a unique taste and provide a healthier spin on your favorite unhealthy foods.

19. Use it as Makeup Remover

Using just the smallest amount of coconut oil is an excellent way to remove eye makeup. It doesn’t take much at all, it’s great for your skin, and when it comes down to it (based on cost and amount needed) you’ll save some money and avoid all those nasty artificial ingredients.

Rub a dab of coconut oil in your hands then brush it through your hair and you will find that it cuts the frizz. Coconut oil will not only moisturize your hair, it will leave it looking soft and smooth. You might think it will make your hair greasy, but as long as you only use a dab you’ll cut the frizz and it won’t be greasy.Frizzy Hair

15. Replace your Shaving Cream with Coconut Oil

14. Remove Head Lice

If you have children, you’ve probably dealt with head lice at some point. Try rinsing their hair with vinegar and then brushing through it with copious amounts of coconut oil so that the oil is saturating the hair. Use a shower cap to cover the hair and let it sit for a few hours before rinsing. The use of vinegar will dissolve the stickiness of the eggs and the oil will smother and ultimately kill any living lice.

13. Replace your Old Tanning Oil

Plenty of suntan lotion (and oil) has a lovely coconut smell, so why not ditch the artificial stuff and just use coconut oil instead? The oil works as a 4 SPF tanning oil and unlike other brands does not include anything harmful or artificial. It also works as a moisturizer, too, which is an added bonus.

12. Exfoliate your Feet

Take some coconut oil and mix it with salt as a remover for the dry and dead skin on your feet. The salt will exfoliate and the coconut oil will kill bacteria and keep the skin smooth.

The toothpaste will remain good for up to two months.

8. Feed it to your Dog
